DescriptionMold-blown aquamarine glass pickle jar with a rolled-over collar at the rim, a cylindrical neck with a ring at the bottom, low-sloping shoulders, a square body, and a flat bottom with a rounded kick in the center. The jar is decorated on each side with a raised pattern in the Gothic style. Each raised pattern consists of a pointed arch supported by columns on either side. A scalloped embellishment outlines the exterior, and there is a palmette at the top of each arch. A trefoil and rosette are located inside each arch; an inverted tulip pendant hangs below each rosette.
While this jar was being made, a bubble of glass developed on the inside, near the bottom of the hanging pendants. What looks like a crack in the glass is the remnants of the bubble on the inside surface of the jar.
There are many light scratches and areas of wear on the bottom edges of the jar . A few spots of an unknown black substance have adhered to the inside of the neck.
Kick: An indentation in the bottom of a drinking glass, bottle, or other glass object.
