DescriptionBlown light aquamarine glass jar with a short cylindrical rim and neck, shallow rounded shoulders, a cylindrical body, and a shallow kick and a pontil mark on the bottom. There are many bubbles and seeds, or pieces of unvitrified matter, imbedded in the glass. The jar (.a) is accompanied by a disc-shaped wooden lid (.b) with a small nail in the center that serves as a finial. There are several light scratches along the bottom edge of the jar.
Kick: An indentation in the bottom of a drinking glass, bottle, or other glass object.
Pontil mark: A rough place on a blown glass object where the solid metal rod, or pontil, is cracked off the object after final shaping and decoration. Pontil marks can be polished to achieve a smooth surface.
