DescriptionRound ashtray made of porcelain with an opaque grey glaze. The ashtray is shallow and round, with horizontal ribs on the sides. There is a second, circular area inside, intended to hold the ashes or a lighter, with six semi-circular indentations on the rim. There is one chip in the glaze near the foot of the ashtray, as well as twenty round areas of a shiny tan substance on the bottom.

MarkingsThere is one printed blue mark on the bottom of the ashtray, consisting of two concentric circles with, "COMPLIMENTS OF/ HARTFORD FAIENCE CO" printed between the two lines.NotesHistorical Note: George Douglas Rankin, the donor's father, was the President of the Hartford Faience Company in Hartford, Connecticut.
