DescriptionPorcelain vase with a rectangular foot, vertical, fluted sides, and a gently flared rim. The style of the vase reflects the Art Deco and streamlined styles popular during the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. The inside bottom of the vase contains a frog, a raised platform with holes used to hold in place the stems of flowers in the vase. The porcelain is covered with a deep blue glaze, and crazing has begun on all sides of the vase. The glaze is not applied perfectly, as small white dots reveal where the glaze did not completely cover the white porcelain below.

A light residue of unknown origin, perhaps from tape, has adhered to one long side, just where the rim flares.
Object number1988.46.1
MarkingsAn impressed, stamped mark on the bottom of the vase states "HAWKINSON PORCELAIN". Two lines of additional, impressed marks read "BK 25 10 0/ S 151 5".
