DescriptionOctagonal ironstone plate with a band of gilding at the rim and a central gilded design. The plate commemorates the 250th anniversary of Coventry, Connecticut. The center of the circular design shows a man in colonial clothing surrounded by the words "COVENTRY CONNECTICUT" above and "BIRTHPLACE of NATHAN HALE" below. This portion of the design is then surrounded by a scalloped line. Superimposed in a horizontal line over the circular design are the words, "QUARTER-MILLENNIUM/ CELEBRATION". Below all of this are two dates, "1712" and "1962".
