DescriptionRound, ivory, porcelain plate with green printed decoration at the rim. A band of green has been applied around the rim, which is interrupted to one side by two circular emblems bearing the name of the Hartford Fire Insurance Company. The first emblem has an elk inside a double circle, with, "THE HARTFORD FIRE INSURANCE CO/ HARTFORD CONN" printed in the band between the two circles. The second emblem consists of a deer or elk with antlers in front of a castle, inside a double circle. "HARTFORD ACCIDENT AND INDEMNITY COMPANY/ HARTFORD CONN" is printed between the two circles. There is an undulating line printed outside the double circles of the second emblem. There are several light scratches on the surface of the plate.

MarkingsThere is one green printed mark on the bottom of the plate. It consists of "IVORY/ LAMBERTON" over a wreath, with a shield inside bearing the letter "S" and "CHINA" below the shield (but still inside the wreath). Below the wreath is the company name, "SCAMMELL".NotesHistorical Note: The Hartford Fire Insurance Company was founded in 1810. It was the beginning of Hartford's insurance industry.On View
