DescriptionHard paste porcelain plate with overglaze green enamel and gilding. The plate is round in shape, but with an uneven rim that imitates the edge of a shell or feather. The rim has been covered in a green enamel that follows the uneven shape of the plate. The green enamel is surrounded at the rim and at the inside edge of the enamel with hand-applied gilding. The center of the plate is white and decorated with a delicate vine and leaf motif that emerges from the gilding and green enamel. Some of the vines are painted in a thin gilding, while other vines and flowers are applied with a thicker gilding on top. This gives the gilt motif a three-dimensional appearance. A smaller group of vines and flowers emerges on the opposite rim from the larger decoration described above.
