DescriptionBaluster-shaped caster of buff-colored earthenware with a blue-tinted glaze, a type of ceramic known as pearlware. The caster is decorated with a transfer-printed 'Willow Pattern' in underglaze cobalt blue. The Willow pattern shows a Chinese structure with a variety of trees and a fence in the foreground. The pattern also includes a small bridge with two people crossing it, and two large birds flying overhead. The domed top of the caster is blue, with small pierced holes. The flared base of the caster has additional blue decoration, probably added by hand. There is a small chip missing from the base of the pierced domed top, and two chips on the underside of the foot. There is crazing over all the surfaces of the caster.
