DescriptionSixth-plate daguerreotype of a painting of John Churchill attributed to Dr. Samuel Broadbent (1945.1.20). The daguerreotype is laterally reversed (due to the nature of the daguerreotype process). Churchill is a young man wearing a dark coat and a shirt with a high, white ruffled stock. He is holding a quill pen in his left hand.
