Harc was founded in 1951 by a group of parents, including Margaret V. Tedone, whose children had intellectual and developmental disabilities. The organization advocated for services, education, enrichment, and employment opportunities for children, and later expanded to serve people of all ages. It currently provides early intervention, residential
services, employment, life-enrichment activities, and respite programs.
