DescriptionTwo young children, probably both girls, are asleep in bed. The girl on the right wears a long-sleeved nightgown trimmed with lace. Their heads rest on a large pillow. They are covered with a sheet and a quilt. Gifts are piled on the foot of the bed. These include a large doll made to resemble a woman wearing a dress with a high lace collar and a straw hat; the head of a male figure representing a man with a large mustach, wearing a cap; possibly a puppet or a second doll; a toy donkey with a bridle; a round flat box tied with string; holly branches; and other packages. Patterned wallpaper is on the wall in the background.
