Caption: HFP110301-12/3/58-WEST HARTFORD, CONN.: Election by Connecticut sports writers to the State Hall of Fame started former featherweight champ, Christopher (Bat) Battalino, to reminiscence in his trophy room at his home in West Hartford. Bat resigned as featherweight champion from 1929 to 1932 in what he calls the "golden era" of boxing when "fighters would stand toe-to-toe and slug it out."
