DescriptionNinth plate ambrotype of two girls. One is Kitty Abbe and the other is unidentified. It is not known which is Kitty.

Both girls appear to be between about nine and 12 years of age. The girl on the left appears to be younger. She is sitting, her arms crossed at her waist. She is wearing a dress with a somewhat wide, shallow neckline, a yoke that cuts straight across her chest, and pleats that are presumably gathered at the waist. The sleeves reach her elbows. Her pleated skirt appears to be quite full. Her hair is parted in the middle and pulled back.

The girl next to her is standing. She is wearing a pinafore over a darker-colored dress. The dress has a round neckline and sleeves that appear to be quite wide. The pinafore is made of a printed fabric with contrasting trim. Her hair is styled similarly to that of her friend or sister.
