DescriptionNinth plate tintype (or possibly ambrotype, but tintype seems more likely) of George Washington Bancroft as a young man. He has short hair, parted to one side. He is wearing a jacket with large (brass?) buttons, fastened to the neck, and a turned-down collar with a large bowtie.
