(a) A United States Purple Heart with a gold heart shaped medal with a profile relief bust of George Washington in the center of the medal with a purple enamel background. A shield with Washington's family coat of arms is above the bust. Embossed text on the back reads, "FOR / MILITARY / MERIT." It has a silk purple ribbon with a white edge stripe.
(b) The service ribbon is a silk purple ribbon with a white edge stripe.
(c) The lapel button has a purple ribbon with a white edge stripe.
(d) Printed in gold on top of case: "PURPLE / HEART."
