DescriptionA man wearing a deer-stalker cap, a jacket, a plaid shirt, pants, and boots falls backward as his rifle or musket fires into the air. A powder horn hangs from a cord across one shoulder. A large game bag hangs from his other shoulder. A hunting dog, probably a setter or a pointer, tugs at the leash which is attached to its collar. A tree with two trunks is directly behind the man. Additional trees are in the background. A small herd of deer runs across a grassy field in the right background. Grass, weeds, and rocks are in the foreground.
