DescriptionA large fish lies in a grassy field, facing left. Small leafy plants grow in the foreground. Behind the fish's tail are a post with an iron ring around it and an iron ring, both set in the ground. A small sailing vessel, probably a sloop, is beached in the background. Men stand on the sand beside it. A second, smaller vessel is at the left. Several stakes protrude from the beach at the right. A promontory with bushes or trees growing on it is in the right background. Hills or mountains are in the distance. Birds fly in the sky near the horizon.
