DescriptionFive oysters lie on a bluff overlooking the ocean, which is in the left background. The four oysters on the right are closed. The outsides of their shells are visible. The oyster on the left has been split open, showing the interior of the shell, with the animal itself in the right half and the muscle attachment in the left half. Grass and small plants are in the left and right foreground. High cliffs are in the right background. A small group of people is on the beach in the left background. The sails of several boats are barely visible on the horizon.
