DescriptionFull length studio portrait of Eliza Trumbull Cheney as a debutante. She is seated on an upholstered bench, facing the camera. Her hands are resting on the bench, one on each side of her. She is wearing her "coming out gown" which has a wide v-neckline and elbow-length sleeves. There is a large rosette on the bodice, at the center of the neckline. There is a layer of sheer, decorative fabric that covers the sleeves and bodice and parts over the skirt, which has fine pleats in it. Eliza's hair appears to be curly and is piled up on her head. She is wearing a short pendant necklace.
