He went to New Britain Teachers College (later Central Connecticut State University) and the University of Hartford. He served in the military during the Korean War with the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Connecticut General Assembly from 1967 to 1978, serving as majority leader from 1975 to 1976 and 1977 to 1978, and as Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut from 1979 to 1980. He became Governor of Connecticut when Ella T. Grasso had to resign due to health issues. He was elected to a four-year term, and then reelected in 1986. He left office in 1991.On View
