DescriptionJapanned tin hat plate in a "tombstone" form, square on bottom, round on top, and slightly curved across its face. The back has three long, tin loops, 1/8 inch by one inch, soldered to the back, two at the lower corners and one near top center. These loops allow attachment to a hat. The face design on the black, japanned ground is an oval motif, two inches wide by 1 1/4 inches high. The motif consists of red houses and green trees on a white ground. Above this is a red, white, and yellow painted butterfly with an orange body. The design is within a yellow wreath border.
