DescriptionA young woman wears a dress with a wide neckline and a headdress trimmed with flowers and leaves. There is pleating or gathering from each shoulder to the center front. Leg-o'-mutton sleeves are also pleated or gathered at the shoulder seam. Extra triangles of fabric at the shoulders and armholes imitate the effect of a front-opening coat. A wide belt is fastened with a large buckle. The upper edge of an undergarment, probably a chemise, is visible at the neckline. The woman's jewelry includes drop earrings and a pendant hanging from a thin chain on her forehead.
