NotesSubject Note: The Scottish Festival organized by the St. Andrews Society of Connecticut ran from 1983 to the early 2000s. The Festival, held at the Goshen Fairgrounds near Litchfield, featured highland and country dancing, Scottish games, Celtic music, Scottish foods and imports sales, and Scottish history displays. The St. Andrew’s Society of Connecticut celebrates Scottish heritage and culture in Connecticut by organizing events such as gatherings and festivals and a Robert Burns Night in january. They also donate to charitable causes in Scotland and locally, engage in genealogical research, operate a library, and give scholarships to students engaged in Scottish studies. The Caledonian is the group’s newsletter and there is a website and a Facebook page. The group participates in other Scottish festivals in Connecticut, including the Litchfield Hills Scottish Games and the Scotland CT Scottish games, as well as other festivals around New England, and maintains connections with other Connecticut Scottish organizations such as bagpipe and drum groups.
