DescriptionWoman's hat of dark brown felt, molded with a slightly domed crown with a pinched edged under which appears a twisted band of the felt. The sides dip to a rounded point at the back, and a shallow point to the proper right of the front center. A loop of the felt is stitched over the edge of the crown over this front point. A large mesh dark brown netting covers the sides of the hat and could be pulled down around the head. Inside the hat edges is stitched a dark brown grosgrain ribbon. A woven tape label is stitched on this ribbon: "G. FOX & CO. / INC. / HARTFORD / CONN." Below this is a stamped tag "22 1/2 / BT / 826685" and on the back: "M'f'r'd under / MILL ' Y CODE / AUTHORITY."
