DescriptionA fleet of ships, nearly all with masts and rigging in addition to smokestacks, are in close formation in choppy water. Some ships have paddlewheels. At least two vessels fly American flags. Cannons protrude from the gunports of the large three-masted ship in the center. Jets of steam or water show where cannon balls are landing in the foreground. A building is visible on a low lying spit of land in the left background.
