DescriptionA group of soldiers wearing Zouave uniforms and carrying rifles with fixed bayonets charge a stone wall and rail fence. A man at the left carries an American flag. An man at the right holding a sword confronts the charge. Several men lie dead or wounded on the ground. In the background, between battle smoke, additional soldiers are fighting, and several cannons are visible. In the distance are trees, church towers and spires, houses, and hills.
