DescriptionThis parasol is constructed from a gold-colored silk, jacquard-woven fabric, lined in a red-purple plain-woven silk. The parasol is edged with decorative fringe, made up of gold silk "Z" twisted yarns and chenille yarns, approximately 3 1/2-inches long. The light tan wooden stick has rows of decorative scalloped carvings, ten rows in total. The end of the stick is carved with a short horizontal handle , 2 1/2 inches long by 1 inch wide. A 1/8-inch wide brass ring is attached to the parasol with a gold silk "Z" twisted yarn, attached 2 1/2 inches from the top end of the parasol and again 3 1/2 inches from the bottom edge. The ring would have been used to keep the parasol closed. Tied to the ring are two pom-poms, 1 1/2 x 1 1/4 inches, hung from a "Z" twisted two-ply silk yarn. This yarn and the pom-poms are a red-purple color, matching the parasol lining.
