DescriptionYoung child's dress of white cotton, with a high, round neckline edged with a whitework-embroidered ruffle under a binding. The dress, which falls straight from the shoulders, flaring to the hem, is decorated with three thirteen-inch-long bands of whitework (machine-embroidered) inserted vertically below the neckline. Alternating with the embroidered insertions are multiple rows of vertical tucks. The hem is edged with a four-inch-wide ruffle of scalloped whitework. The two-piece sleeves have cuffs of self-fabric stitched with vertical tucks and edged on each side with narrow, scalloped whitework. The dress opens for the length of the center back and fastens with ten mother of pearl buttons. The back of the dress is decorated with a strip of whitework insertion flanked by vertical tucking, on each side of the opening.
