DescriptionA badge for the Sphinx Temple of Hartford's, pilgrimage to Los Angeles 1907. At the top of the badge is a bar that has a pin on the reverse. The bar is inscribed with "PILGRIMAGE/ TO/ LOS ANGELES 1907." There are two chains descending from each side of the bar to a larger piece in the shape of a circle with a piece cut out of the right side. There is a relief image of a sphynx with "SPHINX TEMPLE HARTFORD, CONN." inscribed in a crescent moon on the viewer's left. In the empty space between the two metal pieces is a nut connected to the top bar. The nut is brown with white inside of the ridges and cracks. There is a sharp, metal piece sticking out of the bottom of the nut.

ATTLEBORO/ MASS."NotesHistorical Note: The Sphinx Shriners of The Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine fraternity formed the Sphinx Temple in Hartford, Conn. on 13 April 1896. The first meeting was held at the store of Noble William Marchant, located on Allyn Street in Hartford. The Sphinx Temple was the seventy-third Temple established in North America.
