DescriptionGirl's camisole of plain, white cotton, with a wide, square neckline with scalloped whitework embroidery. The cap sleeves are scalloped and embroidered with a design of dots arranged in ovals. The underarm seam is piped. The camisole is gathered into a 1 7/8-inch-wide waistband which has five 5/8-inch-diameter white porcelain buttons stitched around it for fastening the petticoat. The camisole opens for the length of the center back and fastens with a drawstring and a single mother of pearl button at the neckline, and two 1/2-inch-diameter white porcelain buttons at the waist. Undersleeves have been basted into the armholes. These may be a later addition put together to use the camisole as part of a costume. Both undersleeves are embroidered with whitework designs of frond-like motifs within tightly curled paisleys. They are also both pieced across the center. The upper part of the right sleeve is another embroidered undersleeve. The right undersleeve is slightly shorter than the left.
