“John Howard Whittemore (1837-1910) was the head of Naugatuck Malleable Iron. The company manufactured iron castings for the transportation field. He came to Naugatuck in 1857. In 1858, he went into business with Bronson B. Tuttle to produce malleable iron hardware. By 1889, the company came to be known as Naugatuck Malleable Iron.”
