A Century of Meriden "The Silver City." (p. 539)“H. Wales Lines was born in Naugatuck, Conn. on June 3, 1838. He came to Meriden in August 1862. On May 23, 1864, he formed a partnership with his uncle, Charles Perkins, to form Perkins & Lines, a general contracting company for masonry work. When Perkins retired in 1878, the firm of H. Wales Lines & Co. was formed. His partner for the company was H. E. Fairchild.
He was the president and treasurer of The H. Wales Lines Co.; director of the C. F. Monroe Co. of Meriden; director of the Chapin-Stephens Co. of Pine Meadow, Conn.; treasurer and a director of the New Haven Investment Co.; president of the Meriden Machine Tool Co.; and vice-president Meriden Savings Bank. He served three terms as mayor of Meriden from 1877-79.”
The City of Meriden Plan of Conservation & Development Update, Community Character and Historic Resources (2007) lists the house on the Historic Properties Inventory as located at 65 Pleasant Street.
