DescriptionInfant's dress of white cotton, with vertical rows of pintucks alternating with bobbin lace insertion on the bodice front. The neckline is wide and square and controlled with a double drawstring of fine linen tape. The short sleeves have an insertion and an edging of bobbin lace, alternating with rows of pin-tucked self-fabric. The waistband is overlaid with bobbin lace. The bodice and the skirt are gathered by remarkably fine whipping into the waistband. (The whipping is done with approximately seventy stitches per inch.) The bottom of the skirt is bordered with rows of lace insertion alternating with pintucking, as is the bodice. The dress opens for 11 1/2 inches down the center back. It closes at the waist and at the neckline with drawstrings and thread-covered buttons and tape loops.
