InscribedOn verso: "Robert Turnbull / was born of Presbyterian parentage in Whiteburn, Linlithgowshire, Scotland Sept. 10th 1809.... In 1833 came to America, settled with Second Baptist Church, Danbury Conn. after 2 years was called to First Baptist Church Detroit Mich. 2 years later became pastor South Baptist Church Hartford, Conn. In 1839 was settled with Harvard St. Church Boston. In July 1845 he returned to Hartford where he remained for about 24 years.... He died in Christian triumph at Hartford Conn. Nov. 20th 1877 aged 68."
