NotesSubject Note: Edward Gross and Samuel Barden or Bordon were the partners in E. Gross & Co., dealers in rags, paper stock, rubber and metal, at 63 & 65 Ferry Street. According to Hartford Jews, a book by Rabbi Morris Silverman, published in 1970, Edward Gross, the founder of E. Gross & Co., was born in Hungary in 1859. He settled in Hartford in 1883 and died in 1936. Part of a series of photographs taken of buildings scheduled for demolition during the construction of the Bulkeley Bridge.On View
