DescriptionInfant's cap of plain-woven linen and possibly cotton, edged with coarse linen flat bobbin lace around the front. The cap is smoothly fitted to the head, with a round opening for the face. The corners come forward over the cheeks. The crown at the back of the head is a coarser weave linen, pieced in one corner, and cross-stitched with initials in brown thread, probably "LM". The bottom of the cap sides are edged with coarse twill-woven linen tape behind the bobbin lace. The center back edge of the crown has three thread loops laced with finer linen tape for adjusting the fit of the cap. The cap is unlined. Seams are flat-felled. One coarse linen tape extends from the proper right edge; it would have pinned to the other side to keep the cap in place.
