DescriptionA boy kneels to set a snare, consisting of a noose made of string attached to a bent limb, in a space between a low fence constructed of twigs and ferns. He wears a jacket, trousers, and a hat. His jacket and trousers are ragged and frayed. A second boy stands nearby, holding a dead grouse. He wears a cap with a brim, a jacket with a hole in the elbow, a shirt and tie, and striped trousers. The boys are in an open woodland. Vines grow on the tree at the left.
