DescriptionA young girl is seated sidesaddle on a horse. She wears a striped dress with eyelet trim, a necklace or locket, and shoes and socks. A man wearing a straw hat, a jacket, and trousers holds her right hand in his left hand and holds the horse's head in his right hand. The girl holds the reins in her right hand. The horse has a saddle blanket topped by a second blanket. A stirrup dangles beneath the horse's belly. A dog, probably a greyhound or a whippet, runs behind the horse. An ornamental urn containing flowers is on a stone wall in the background.
