DescriptionA man on horseback holds a riding crop in his right hand and the reins in his left hand. He wears a cap, a double-breasted coat, breeches, and boots. The horse, which has a bridle, English saddle, and plaid saddle blanket, stands among tall plants at the right. Six spotted fox hounds surround a fox in the foreground. The dog in the right foreground bites the fox in the paw. Large trees are at the left. A river in a wooded valley is in the background. A barren hill is in the right background.

See! how She keeps at the head of the field, / Like the Free and the Brave who scorns to yield, / E'en the Huntsman is distanc'd and lags in the rear, / But what wonder! Her rider never knew fear. / Two fields are dashed over and now he is there, / To behold the fierce struggle on Reynard's last lair, / Tis the effort of death, but quickly is o'er, / The chase's at an end, for the Fox is no more."
