DescriptionThe Pearl Street Congregational Church, built of Portland brownstone, occupies the center of the image. The church has a tall spire and round-arched windows. A paved sidewalk is beside it. A vacant lot, apparently the site of recent demolition, is at the corner of Main and Pearl Streets in the right foreground. Posters, including at least one circus poster, are on the wall of the building at the far right. Men sit on a temporary fence, constructed of poles resting on barrels. One holds an advertising sign that reads: "Original / Tea Store." Signs on the building at the left read: "Phoenix / Mutual / Life / Insurance / Company." "Kelsey & Hitchcock."
