DescriptionBerlin woolwork house slippers, embroidered with a colorful design of red and purple flowers (possibly pansies) on the sides, and pile-embroidered red and white and purple roses on the instep, which are trimmed to create a sculptural appearance. The uppers are lined in the quarters area with machine-quilted pink silk satin and in the vamp area with twill-woven white cotton; the sock lining is also the quilted satin. The throatline is bound in brown silk and then edged in pleated pink silk ribbon. The soles are made for left and right feet, with the waist edged on one side with a curving border of dark stain, which makes the sole appear narrower than it actually is. The stacked heel is low and has two wooden pegs in the center.
