InscribedOn verso: "Photograph of orchestra on 'Jumbo' rock / (the great boulder on the cliff west of the / Gilbert clock shop, Winsted) taken in the 1880's. / A platform (since destroyed) for dancing / was builded [sic] on top of the boulder. The or-/chestra is on that platform, which extends / back - a large platform. Beginning on the / left the persons shown are: - / 1. George Girard, clarinet / 2. James Bannon [?], cornet / 3. L.V. Pinney, viola / 4. Henry Barrenther [?], violin / 5. Mr. Walker, Contra-Bass / 6. Emil Smith, 2nd violin / 7. Wm. Shea, Trombone / Prof. James Ward is the 'distinguished / looking' individual in the tall hat. / The infants in front are now (1901) fathers / of families or 'like to be,' and every man on the / rock is alive and playing, except Prof. Ward."
