The inscription on verso of both photographs clearly says Merton Whitford. However, another image, 2002.73.8, with undoubtably the same man, is labeled as Arthur Lewis. Other images of a slightly younger man identified as Mr. Lewis also appear to be the same person.Arthur Lewis died 10 October 1951 at age 79.
