DescriptionAt the right, a bearded man wearing a straw hat stands beside a picket fence with his hand on a hopper or pump. Two young women, one seated, are to his left. Two small barefoot boys are seated on the ground. An older boy, also barefoot, stands in front of an ox team. The Greek revival house in the background has a back addition with a porch.

NotesConstituent Note: Some photographs in this collection bear the imprint of the Northern Survey Company. Subject Note: A farmer named Erastus Watrous was living in Colchester, Connecticut in 1870. However, other people of that name also appear in the Federal Census in 1870 and 1880.
