DescriptionThree-quarter-length image of a woman sitting in an upholstered armchair consoling a young child who kneels at her feet. The woman wears a bodice, a skirt, a shawl, and a bonnet with ruffles and cloth ties. The child, probably a girl, wears a dress with gathered sleeves and a sash tied in a bow. The armchair has patterned upholstery. Drapery is at the right.
