DescriptionChurch with a classical portico and tower with a small dome and a clock. Notes indicate "fluted columns" and "square" [pilasters?] behind them. The building is "All brown," built of "Chatham stone," i.e. Portland brownstone. There is an elaborate fence in front of the building and a small house and trees to the side.
Object number1953.5.42
NotesSubject Note: Preliminary drawing for Connecticut Historical Collections, John Warner Barber, New Haven, 1836. Although an inscription reads "Chatham?" the church appears to be Christ Church, Middletown, erected in 1834.
