DescriptionView of four people outside in a backyard. An older woman, probably Antoinette Randolph Phelps, stands to the left. Slightly behind her, Mary Pierson Cheney and her father, Stephen C. Pierson, sit on a bench. To their right another older woman, probably Elizabeth B. Pierson, sits on a second bench. There is a garden behind them all, which appears to be fenced in. There is a small shed in the back left corner. A house is on the other side of the fence, behind and to the right of the shed.

Antionette Randolph Phelps was the 1st cousin of Mary Pierson's mother, Hannah Pettibone Latimer Pierson. Mary lived with Antoinette after Hannah died in 1883 (Mary was 9 years old).

Cataloging worksheet in object file indicates that the woman on the right is Lizzie Pierson. This is likely Stephen C. Pierson's sister, Elizabeth B. Pierson.
