DescriptionCream-colored silk satin slippers with a pointed vamp, pointed toes, and short, narrow Louis, or "Italian" heels. The satin is lined with plain-woven linen and bound with matching silk tape. The leather sole is continuous over the front of the heel. The shoes are straight. White silk tapes have been stitched to the sides of the shoes, either in a later attempt to help keep them on or to modify them to resemble the laced slippers that were fashionable in the early 19th century (but probably the former).
