DescriptionWoman's combing jacket, constructed from a white linen towel in a poncho-style. The towel is woven in a diamond pattern, with a deep border at front and back of various basket-weave stripes. The edges are self-fringed. The jacket is seamed at the shoulders, which are cut with a slight slope. The sides are open. The center front opening is finished with a narrow hem, fastening at the top with a single mother of pearl button. The neckline is formed by turning down the corners at the top of the opening, forming revers. The revers and back of the neckline (which is straight) are edged with narrow, scalloped-edge whitework embroidery.
