DescriptionBlack top hat in leather top hat case.
(.a) Oval shaped, light leather top hat case. Bottom of case has three supporting metal studs. Attached on sides of case are two leather straps which buckle into handle connected to lid. Front of case has a brass plate with lock and key hole; a thick leather strap sewn to back of case connecting and stretching across lid vertically has a brass buckle which secures into brass plate. Lid has thick leather handle with a buckle on each end, inscribed on handle, "807". Inside of case is a black cloth material; lid has a white overlapping, eight-pointed star symbol sewn into it. Inner portion of case has two elastic bands which lock together by brass buckles, to secure top hat.
(.b) Black crushed beaver top hat with black, silk grosgrain ribbon at base of hat with bow on one side. Silk grosgrain edging at brim, inside lined with white silk with a brown leather band. On back of leather band, a white silk ribbon. Small circular mesh vent at top center of hat, stamped around this is a dark blue logo of a wreath and banner, across reads, "EXTRA QUALITY / TRADE MARK / LAMSON & HUBBARD / COR. KINGSTON & BEDFORD STS. / AND / 173 WASHINGTON ST. / BOSTON".
